Free AI image prompt generator

This AI image prompt generator takes one subject plus a few menu choices and writes the prompt in the format each image model actually understands. Pick the model, the aspect ratio and the look you want, and you get a prompt you can paste straight into Midjourney, Nano Banana, ChatGPT, Flux, Stable Diffusion, Ideogram, Leonardo or Firefly.

How to use it

  1. Choose the model and ratio

Select the image model and one of seven aspect ratios. The output format changes completely with the model, so pick it first.

  2. Describe the main subject

Write who or what is in the picture and what it is doing. Your subject can be in any language; the style terms are added in English.

  3. Set style, light and camera

Use the style, lighting, camera, composition and mood menus, add a color palette, extra details, text for the image and things to avoid.

  4. Generate, copy and refine

Press Generate prompt, copy the result and test it. Tick the JSON option if you also want a structured version of the same prompt.

Why one prompt does not fit every image model

Image models read prompts in very different ways. Midjourney rewards short descriptive phrases followed by parameters. Stable Diffusion and Leonardo respond to comma-separated tags, weights and a separate negative prompt. ChatGPT image generation, Flux, Nano Banana and Firefly prefer full sentences, as if you were briefing a photographer. Ideogram is strongest when you tell it exactly which words to print. Pasting the same text everywhere usually means one model ignores half of it.

The builder keeps your idea and changes only the wrapper. Here is the same subject (a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table, product photography, soft studio light, top-down flat lay, 4:5) for three targets:

Midjourney:
a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table, professional product photography, soft diffused studio lighting, top-down flat lay --ar 4:5 --style raw

Stable Diffusion / SDXL:
(a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table:1.2), professional product photography, soft diffused studio lighting, top-down flat lay, highly detailed, sharp focus, best quality

Negative prompt: lowres, blurry, jpeg artifacts, bad anatomy, extra fingers, deformed hands, watermark, signature, text

Flux:
A professional product photography of a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table. Shot as a top-down flat lay. Lighting: soft diffused studio lighting. Aspect ratio 4:5.

The building blocks of a strong image prompt

Every field in the form maps to one decision a photographer or illustrator would make. Filling them in the right order is what separates a generic picture from a deliberate one:

  • Subject first. Models give more weight to what comes early. Be concrete: “an elderly fisherman mending a net” beats “a man”.
  • Style or medium. Photorealistic, watercolor, isometric, pixel art and eleven other options set the overall rendering.
  • Lighting. Golden hour, neon or volumetric rays change the mood more than any adjective.
  • Camera and composition. An 85mm portrait lens, a macro shot or a low angle tells the model where to stand; rule of thirds or negative space decides where the subject sits.
  • Mood and palette. One mood word and a short palette such as “teal and orange” keep colors consistent across a series.
  • Details and exclusions. Small specifics (visible breath, dust in the air) and a short list of things to avoid finish the brief.

You do not need every field. A subject, a style and one lighting choice already produce a usable prompt; add the rest when you want control.

Putting readable text inside an image

Signs, posters, packaging and thumbnails often need real words. The “Text to show in the image” field is handled differently per model: Ideogram gets a sentence saying the image prominently shows your text in clean, legible typography; Nano Banana and ChatGPT are told to render the text spelled exactly; Midjourney receives it as with the text "..."; Stable Diffusion gets it as a tag, and the word “text” is removed from the default negative list so it does not cancel your request. Keep on-image text short — a few words render far more reliably than a full sentence.

Each model also has its own page with deeper syntax notes: see the Midjourney prompt generator, the Nano Banana prompt generator and the negative prompt generator for exclusion lists. If you start from a picture instead of words, try image to prompt.

Pro tips

  • Change one field at a time between generations so you can see what each choice really does.
  • Use a single strong lighting choice; mixing “neon” with “golden hour” confuses most models.
  • Keep the avoid list short and concrete: text, watermark, blurry works better than ten vague words.
  • Reuse the same palette and style for a whole series (blog covers, product shots) to keep a consistent look.
  • If you have AI mode on this site, “Enhance with AI” can polish the result while keeping the model syntax.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AI image prompt generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and has no usage limit. Your last 20 prompts can be kept in your browser history on this device.

Does it create the image too?

No. It writes the prompt; you paste it into the image tool you use. This keeps it free and lets you use any model you already have access to.

Can I write my subject in another language?

Yes. Your subject is kept as you typed it. Style, lighting and camera terms are added in English because most image models follow English descriptors best. If results are weak, translate the subject too.

What does the JSON option do?

It adds a structured copy of the same prompt with keys such as subject, style, lighting, camera, aspect_ratio and negative. It is useful for storing prompts, batch work or tools that accept JSON.

Why does Midjourney get --style raw sometimes?

When you choose the Photorealistic or Product photography style, the builder adds --style raw, which reduces Midjourney's default artistic styling and gives a more literal, photographic result.
