Make AI-assisted drafts read like a person wrote them

This AI humanizer cleans up the stiff, formulaic phrasing that makes AI drafts easy to spot and tiring to read. The free basic mode runs in your browser and replaces stock phrases, adds everyday contractions and splits overlong sentences; when AI mode is available on this site, a second button rewrites the whole text more deeply. It is a writing aid for your own work, not a way to hide AI use where it is not allowed.

Basic mode replaces robotic phrases and varies sentence openings. Always review the result — and use it ethically (no academic dishonesty).

🔒 Runs in your browser. Your text is not stored on our servers.

How to use it

  1. Paste your draft

Paste the AI-assisted text you want to improve (up to 12,000 characters).

  2. Run the basic humanizer

Click Humanize (basic, local). The result shows the rewritten text and how many changes were made.

  3. Try the AI rewrite if available

If the Humanize with AI button is shown, use it for a fuller rewrite that varies rhythm and wording while keeping the facts.

  4. Edit in your own voice

Read the result aloud, add your own examples and opinions, and fix anything that changed meaning.

What the basic mode changes, exactly

The local mode applies a fixed set of rules, so you always know what happened to your text:

  • Removes empty openers such as "In today's fast-paced world," and "It is important to note that", which add words but no meaning.
  • Swaps stock vocabulary for plain words: "leverage" and "utilize" become "use", "delve into" becomes "look at", "robust" becomes "solid", "plays a crucial role in" becomes "matters a lot for", "in order to" becomes "to".
  • Replaces stiff transitions: "Furthermore," becomes "Also,", "Moreover," becomes "Plus,", "In conclusion," becomes "So,".
  • Adds contractions: "do not" becomes "don't", "it is" becomes "it's", the way most people write informally.
  • Splits very long sentences of more than 34 words at a comma near the middle, and fixes capitalization after each change.

The counter under the result tells you how many replacements were made. Spanish, German, French and Portuguese pages use rule sets for those languages.

Before and after

Before:
In today's fast-paced world, it is important to note that
remote teams must leverage robust tools in order to
communicate. Furthermore, clear documentation plays a
crucial role in productivity.

After (basic mode):
Remote teams must use solid tools to communicate. Also,
clear documentation matters a lot for productivity.

The second version is shorter and plainer, but notice what it does not do: it adds no example, no opinion, no detail from your own experience. That part is your job, and it is what really makes writing sound human.

Use it ethically

Making a draft read better is legitimate. Disguising AI-generated work as your own where that is prohibited is not. Do not use this tool to submit AI-written essays, exams or theses as your own work, to get around a teacher's or publisher's AI policy, or to pass off generated reviews and testimonials as genuine. Many schools, journals and clients require you to disclose AI assistance; follow those rules even when nobody could tell.

Good uses include smoothing an AI-assisted email before sending it, cleaning up a first draft you will rewrite anyway, removing filler from product copy you wrote with an assistant, and learning which phrases make text sound robotic so you stop using them.

When to use the AI rewrite instead

Rules can only fix words, not rhythm. If your text is a wall of same-length sentences, the AI rewrite (shown when the site owner enables AI mode) will vary sentence length, prefer concrete words and remove clichés, while keeping the meaning, facts, names, numbers and language of the original and adding no new claims. It is still a draft: check every sentence against your source.

To see whether your edits changed the style signals, run the before and after versions through the AI text detector, keeping in mind that its score is only an estimate. Even better, prevent robotic drafts in the first place: a prompt that sets a tone and gives an example of your style, built with the prompt generator, produces text that needs much less fixing.

Pro tips

  • Humanize, then read the text aloud. Anything you would not say to a colleague still needs rewriting.
  • Add one specific detail per paragraph: a number, a name, a short anecdote. Generic text sounds machine-made regardless of wording.
  • Contractions suit emails and blogs; for formal documents, undo them after running the basic mode.
  • Check that the meaning survived, especially where a long sentence was split.
  • If your workplace or school asks for disclosure of AI assistance, give it. Humanizing does not change who wrote the first draft.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AI humanizer free?

Yes. The basic mode is free, unlimited and runs in your browser. The AI rewrite, when enabled by the site owner, has an hourly fair-use limit.

Will humanized text pass AI detectors?

That is not the goal of this tool and there is no guarantee either way. Detectors are unreliable in both directions. Focus on making the text clear and genuinely yours.

Does it change the meaning of my text?

The basic mode only swaps phrases and splits long sentences, so the meaning normally stays the same, but always review the result. The AI mode is instructed to keep facts, names and numbers and not add claims.

Can I use it for school assignments?

Only within your institution's rules. If AI-generated work is not allowed, humanizing it does not make it allowed. If AI help is permitted with disclosure, you can use the tool to polish your draft and then disclose as required.

Is my text sent anywhere?

In basic mode, no: everything happens on your device. With the AI rewrite, the text is sent to the AI provider configured by the site owner to produce the new version.
