Suno AI prompt generator for style and song structure
This Suno AI prompt generator writes the two things a custom song needs: a compact “Style of music” line and a lyrics skeleton with structure tags like [Verse] and [Chorus]. You fill the skeleton with your own words; the tool never writes or copies song lyrics.

How to use it
Pick Suno or Udio and a genre
Choose the music model and type a genre, such as indie pop or lo-fi hip hop.
Set mood, tempo and vocals
Choose a mood, one of four tempo ranges and the vocal type, or Instrumental for no vocals.
Add instruments and theme
List two or three main instruments and the theme your own lyrics will be about.
Generate and write
Keep structure tags ticked, generate, paste the style line and replace each placeholder with your own lines.
The style line: short and specific
The style field is where you describe the sound, not the story. The builder joins your choices in a fixed order — genre, mood, tempo in BPM, instruments and vocals — into one comma-separated line:
Style of music: indie folk, melancholic, 70 BPM, acoustic guitar, soft piano, cello, female vocals
Tempo choices become a concrete number: slow is 70 BPM, mid-tempo 100, upbeat 122 and fast 145. A specific number tends to steer the groove more reliably than words like “chill”. Keep the line focused: one main genre, an optional subgenre, two or three instruments and one vocal description. Piling up five genres usually produces a muddy mix.
When a result is close but not quite right, change one descriptor at a time — the tempo first, then one instrument — instead of rewriting the whole line. That way you learn which word moved the sound. Udio reads a similar comma-separated description, so the same line is a sensible starting point there too.
Structure tags for your own lyrics
Suno and Udio read bracketed section tags in the lyrics box as instructions for the song form. With structure tags ticked, the builder produces this skeleton, with your theme inserted in each placeholder:
[Intro] (instrumental) [Verse 1] (write your own lines about: leaving home for the first time) [Pre-Chorus] (write your own lines about: leaving home for the first time) [Chorus] (write your own lines about: leaving home for the first time) [Verse 2] ... [Bridge] ... [Final Chorus] ... [Outro] (instrumental)
Replace each placeholder in parentheses with two to four lines you write yourself. Delete the parentheses when you do; text in parentheses may be read as instructions or sung as backing vocals, depending on the model. The chorus is usually the shortest and most repeated part, the verses tell the story, and the bridge changes perspective or melody before the final chorus.
Instrumental tracks
Choosing “Instrumental (no vocals)” changes the skeleton to [Instrumental] followed by [Intro], [Main Theme], [Build], [Drop], [Bridge] and [Outro], each marked as instrumental, and adds “instrumental” to the style line. This works well for background music, intros for videos or beats. In Suno, also switch on its Instrumental option, because the tags alone do not always prevent vocals.
Writing songs responsibly
Use this tool to shape your own music. A few rules keep your songs original and safe to publish:
- Write your own lyrics. Never paste lyrics from existing songs; they are protected by copyright, and music platforms may reject or remove the track.
- Describe sounds, not artists. Instead of naming a singer, describe the qualities you like: “breathy alto vocals, warm analog synths, 80s drum machine”.
- Check the terms of Suno or Udio for how you may use and monetize generated songs, which depends on your plan.
If you need help drafting your own verses, describe your idea in the AI prompt generator and ask for original lyrics on your theme. For a matching music video, the AI video prompt generator can write the shots, and the prompt library has more creative ideas.
Pro tips
- Keep the style line under roughly a dozen descriptors; clarity beats quantity.
- Give the chorus a short, repeatable hook line that you wrote yourself.
- Use
[Bridge]to change the angle of the story or the energy before the last chorus. - Try the same lyrics with two tempos to hear which fits the words better.
- For instrumentals, also enable the Instrumental switch in Suno.
Frequently asked questions
What do I paste where in Suno?
In custom mode, paste the line after “Style of music” into the style field and the bracketed structure, filled with your own lyrics, into the lyrics field.
Does this Suno AI prompt generator write lyrics?
No. It writes the style line and the song structure with placeholders. The lyrics should be your own original words.
Does it work for Udio?
Yes. Choose Udio in the menu. The style description and section tags work as a solid starting point; adjust them to Udio's current interface.
Can I ask for a voice like a famous singer?
The tool does not support that, and you should avoid it. Describe the vocal qualities you want instead, such as raspy, airy, deep or powerful.
Is this tool affiliated with Suno or Udio?
No. It is an independent free tool.
